Artistic Committee

Rod Lucich, Artistic Vice President(Pleasant Hill, CA)
Rod joined the Diablo Theatre Company Board in 2009. He is Assistant Vice President and Compliance Manager at RCM Capital Management in San Francisco. He became interested in musical theatre when his daughter became involved with Starstruck at an early age and began working with the company with Ragtime as the Properties Manager. He has been a member of the Artistic Committee since 2004 and also works as the Production Manager and the Assistant Producer for current Diablo Theatre Company productions.

Georgia Benedict (Benicia, CA)
Georgia Taylor Benedict has been Diablo Theatre Company’s resident Stage Manager since 2001, and has stage managed in the Lesher Center for the Arts in multiple productions annually since it opened in 1990.  She has selected Diablo Theatre Company as her “theatre home” because of the technically challenging productions, tremendous management support, and extraordinarily talented casts and production teams that work together to create each of Diablo Theatre Company’s intricate, top-notch productions.

Daren A.C. Carollo (San Francisco)
Daren has proudly served as the artistic leader of Diablo Theatre Company since May of 2005.  Previously, he was the Production Manager for the Marin Theatre Company and Willows Theatre Company, and Technical Director for Center REPertory Company and the Lesher Center for the Arts.  Daren has been an AEA stage manager for Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Center REP, MTC and The Willows.  He received his BA in Theatre from Illinois State University.  He has stage directed more than 40 productions in the last several years, including Diablo Theatre Company productions of Brigadoon In Concert, Peter Pan, Miss Saigon, A Grand Night for Singing, and Curtains, as well as our teen company, STARS 2000′s production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Cheryl Yee Glass (Danville, CA)
Cheryl Yee Glass is the Music Director/Conductor for most of the Diablo Theatre Company productions.  She started playing bass in the orchestra while in college at U.C. Berkeley and began conducting in 1992 for Diablo Theatre Company.  Currently, she is the Instrumental Music Director and District Coordinator of Music at San Ramon High School in Danville where she conducts an award-winning Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra and Marching Band.  She has also served on the Diablo Theatre Company Board of Directors as well as on the Play-Reading Committee (which ultimately became the Diablo Theatre Company Artistic Committee).

Betty Harwood (Alamo, CA)
Betty Harwood performed leading roles with Diablo Theatre Company for many years, and was Publicity and Marketing Director from 1985-2001.  She has also been a producer, assistant stage manager and assistant to the director.  She has served on the Diablo Theatre Company Board of Directors and was on the Play-Reading Committee since 1993.  Betty studied classical voice and opera for 17 years, piano for 7 years and had 4 years of acting classes.

Diane Kamrin (Pleasant Hill, CA)
Diane Kamrin is a performer and dancer who founded Diablo Theatre Company’s STARS 2000 Teen Theatre Company for youth between the ages of 13 and 20.  She produces, choreographs and conducts the teen orchestra for one show each summer.  She also teaches a Diablo Theatre Company teen theatre dance class.  She organizes a teen vocal group that sings at different venues during Christmas time.  Diane is a recipient of the 2004 Walnut Creek Arts Council Award and the Contra Costa Commission for Women’s prestigious “Women Contributing to the Arts” award.

John Pangia (Walnut Creek, CA)
John Pangia is a professional musician and conductor who has been playing in the Diablo Theatre Company orchestra for many years.  He is currently the Orchestra Manager and has previously served on the Diablo Theatre Company Board of Directors.

Debbie Shelley (Lafayette, CA)
Debbie Shelley has been the properties mistress for Diablo Thatre Company on several of their productions beginning with No, No Nanette in 2002.  She has also worked with CCMT, St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Center Stage Theatre Company and staging for Gramercy Towers in San Francisco.  She also costumed Contra Costa Children’s Chorus Young Opera Company productions of The Star Child and The Emperor’s New Clothes.  She continues to be challenged with creating and finding authentic pieces for stage productions.

Ellen Smith (Walnut Creek, CA)
Ellen Smith has been producing Diablo Theatre Company shows for many years.  She founded Diablo Theatre Company’s STARSTRUCK youth theatre program for 8-15 year olds.  STARSTRUCK performs two original shows each year.  She is the Director of Performing Arts at the local Jewish Community Center and produces their teen theatre program.  Ellen is a College/Career Advisor at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek.
